Caron’s En Avion and Tabac Blond: Perfume of the Day 1/9/2018

Today’s perfume is a layer of two Perfumes from Caron, Tabac Blond and En Avion. I wanted the incense of En Avion, with a sharper edge, and these two go so well together. Both designed for the daring and audacious modern woman, they should be a good set to carry me through the workday.
Today’s Lingerie is Dita’s Park Avenue set in black silk with lace appliques and swarovski details. Tights from Wolford and a silk slip from Elle McPherson in a bright cherry red.

Houbigant’s Chantilly: Perfume of the Day 1/5/2018

For today’s glamorous visit to the OBGYN and telework, I chose a Houbigant Fragrance that I have adored for years: Chantilly.
Today’s bottle is a late 1960s edition of the 1941 parfum, from before the formula was purchased from Houbigant by Dana.

A lot of you may know it as a scent that your grandmother wore, or you may have even been gifted a (Dana) set for a holiday or birthday in the 1980s. I love these older bottles, as the ingredients had so much integrity, and they have aged well. These older bottles feel like a naughtier Shalimar… almost a cross between Jolie Madame and Shalimar: all carnation, rose, and vanilla sweetness wrapped around a spicy oakmoss and sandalwood soul, with just the tiniest bit of naughty jasmine. I have feelings of warmth and comfort wrapped around this piece of personal nostalgia.

Today’s lingerie is a silk Natori camisole under a cashmere sweater, Soma knickers, and another round of a dozen socks.

This has been one HOT Summer, and I’m ready for Autumn.

The casting call just went out, and I’m thrilled with the applications I’ve received so far. The show will take place January 14, at the Bier Baron.

Calm Before the Storm

August was quite a ride. I am certainly glad that I attempted one performance each week with new choreography and costuming; I am simply glad that it was wildly successful. I don’t  know if I am ready for another month quite like that soon.

Want to see video and photographs from those adventures? Pop over to my Performance archive.

September is full of costume and concept preparation for shows taking place this Fall and Winter.

I teamed with StereoVision Photography for an incredible all-day shoot two weekends ago, and I’m absolutely dying to see the images. There will be a little bit for each personality within me. The sparkly showgirl, the femme fatale, and the glamorous vision that was the Ziegfeld Follies.

I do so love this life.

Frying Pan, Meet Fire

The last few months since my debut have been a whirlwind of networking, costuming, and act development.

I am so very glad to be here.

I have kittened for some artists I deeply respect and admire, and I successfully submitted applications to shows across the Washington DC, Baltimore, and Richmond scene. I’ve created and performed my first Nerdlesque act at Whedonism, I’ve performed for the pleasure of a crowd exceeding 350 enthusiastic attendees, purchased and began choreographing with a pair of gigantic feather fans, and dreamt of innumerable acts yet to be born.

Through it all, I’ve upped my own game and come to know a greater number of fabulous performers and producers in my community, and promoting the capability of my fellow Budding Burlesque Beauties.

And my performances have been described as “Scorchingly Glamourous” by a fellow performer. Wow.

Frying pan, meet fire.
